1. Great, energetic piano music.
2. Running and getting hyper to great energetic piano music.
3. People who do kind things when I feel I don't deserve it.
4. Being hopeful about the future in hard times. I don't care what you say, Glenn Beck, I'm going to try to prepare for the worst while being hopeful for the future. That's not exactly how I wanted to phrase that but I didn't want to go all PG on you.
5. Having a husband who I have things in common with- being passionate about similar things and finding humor in similar things. Not everything , of course, but enough to make life good.
6. Cute, blond children.

Mommy Tag
1. Typically what time do you wake up? 7 am.
2. On a good night what time are your kids in bed? 9:30.
3. How long have you been a mommy? 11 years.
4. How old were you when you became a mommy? 26. So glad it wasn't any younger!
5. What is your favorite kids tv show/movie? I loved that Kit Kittredge American Girl movie. I've always been a fan of Arthur, even though it's pretty old now.
6. What is your least favorite kids tv show? Teletubbies, some of the tweeny disney shows like that short show between other shows with the high school kids in the hall acting like morons.
7. What is your favorite chore? Favorite chore? Isn't that an oxymoron?
8. What is your favorite meal to cook? Chicken tacos.
9. What is the meal you cook most often? Uh, spagetti?
10. What is your kids' favorite meal? That I cook? Chicken tacos and Crazy Casserole. They also love the kid's stand by: cheese pizza and mac n' cheese.
11. What is your favorite thing your husband does with your kids? He wrestles with them and plays soccer and he's always finding interesting and educational things to show them on the internet. He really is a great dad.
12.What are 5 things that make you smile when you're being a mom? 1. That they all still like to blow kisses to me. 2. Our drawn out bedtime routine that is too long but I will really miss it one day. 3. Scooter adventures with the kids. 4. Giving and receiving hugs and kisses on the cheeks. 5. That they really are good kids!
14. When was the last time you went out without your kids? Valentines Day.
15. What is your favorite pass time/activity to do with your kids? Going on adventures with them in the summer and holiday tradition stuff.
16. Name 1 thing you said you'd never do as a mom: I know I said a million things but it's been too long since I was a kid to remember. I'm old!
17. What is your favorite quality that your mom has? The way she would listen to me gab on and on before bedtime every night as a teenager. Those were good conversations.
18. What is your advice for new moms? Relax. Most of your screw ups won't psychologically damage them. (At least that's what I keep telling myself!)
19. What is the scariest or most heartbreaking moment as a mom? The hurt that they go through growing up, that we all go through, and there is nothing we can do about it as parents but let them get through it and, hopefully, learn and grow from it.
20. What is your most joyful moment of being a mom? Seeing them succeed and overcome their weaknesses.
21. When was the last time you were told 'I Love You' by one of your kids? Today when I dropped Noah off at school.

How Well Do You Know Your Husband?
These memes are popping up all over facebook. I resisted doing any of them for a while then finally did the "25 random things about me" meme. Almost did it anyway, then I accidentally deleted it before I posted it. So I gave up, decided to stick with putting them on my blog. So here's one:
1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen? The Office or Colbert Report or Simpsons.
2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? Ranch, unless it's one of those fruity, nutty salads then whatever vinaigrette comes with it. He loves salads.
3. What's one food he doesn't like? Rare meat.
4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order? Water, sometimes sprite. We've both weaned ourselves off of pop over the last few years.
5. Where did he go to high school? West Jordan High School.
6. What size shoe does he wear? 10.
7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be? He used to collect metal object: keys, nuts and bolts, etc.
8. What is his favorite type of sandwich? Those big fat hamburgers at Carl's Jr. (he very rarely eats them though).
9. What would he eat every day if he could? Well he eats the same lunch every day so I guess PB&J, orange, banana, yogurt with flax seed, carrots, nuts and dried fruit. Or maybe a taco salad.
10. What is his favorite cereal? Cheerios.
11. What would he never wear? A sweater vest.
12. What is his favorite sports team? Isabella, Zoe and Noah's soccer teams. He finds watching sports on tv as boring as I do.

16. What is his heritage? Um, some English, German, etc. He also tried to convince me he was 1/4 black when I first met him. Didn't fall for that one, at least not more than a few seconds.
17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake? Carrot cake, every year.
18. Did he play sports in high school? Soccer.
19. What kind of music does he like? Some alternative, he loves finding new stuff off of the NPR show "All Songs Considered".

Another Quiz
1. Did you date someone from your school? Only friends to dances.
2. What kind of car did you drive? My Stepdad's Mazda truck and a 1977 Chevy Impala.
3. What was the most embarrassing moment of HS? Probably when I asked this guy (major crush) to a dance in an elaborate way and found out he was going with someone else, then avoided seeing him so I didn't have to be humiliated when he turned me down. I was still humiliated.
4. Were you a party animal? Not at all. Not my style and my Stepdad was too scary to even attempt it!
5. Were you considered a flirt? Too shy.
6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? No, no, and no.
7. Were you a nerd? Nerd? Not really. Mostly just blended in.
8. Were you on any varsity teams? Cross Country and Track. Also lettered in drama! Couldn't act at all....
9. Did you get suspended/expelled? Nope, wasn't much of a trouble maker.
10. Can you still sing the fight song? I totally can! "Jordan High School student are we...."
11. Who were your favorite teachers? Mrs. Smith, Junior Honors English. She wore the weirdest hippy outfits, was always trying to find the pen that was in her hair, was totally creative and invited us to her cool Harvard/Yale neighborhood home to watch The Great Gatsby.
12. Where did you sit during lunch? Usually hallway or stairwell.
13. School mascot? Beetdiggers (coolest and nerdiest mascot ever!)
14. Did you go to homecoming, and with who? Let's see, Bryan Sorenson, Murray Guy. He hit a car with his Mom's Suburban while we were picking everyone up.
15. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Not high school, maybe the twenties.
16. What do you remember most about graduation? Driving downtown to a loser party after at a hotel then leaving and hanging out at Connie Palmer's (Conehead's) house. I remember it was kind of a downer, I was moving to Arizona the next day.
17. Where did you go senior skip day? We didn't have one but I did end up at Murray Park at least once.
18. Were you in any clubs? Archeology Club, Key Club.
19. Have you gained some weight since then? Are you serious? It's been almost twenty years! Cut me some slack here!
20. Who was your prom date? Jr. Prom was Jeff Wilson.
21. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? Probably, but because of Facebook I'm not very excited. It's taken away the element of surprise.
22. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself? Relax and study hard, don't get so embarrassed by everything!!

Quirky?
I stole this from blogging buddy, Mylee. List 6 quirks then tag 6 people.
1. I like to laugh at stupid things. For example, yesterday just before the closing hymn in Sacrament Meeting at church I flipped open the hymn book to find the closing hymn and landed on a hymn called "Lean On My Ample Arm". I'm sure back in the day when this was written, probably a hundred and some years ago, this was a lovely sentiment. But in today's vernacular it simply means lean on my fat arm. It was just kind of funny and silly to me. So I reached past the kids and showed it to Brent who kind of grinned but remained serious. Then I leaned back and giggled quietly (and irreverently) to myself in a very immature manner for the next few seconds. I apologize to any reader who's Great Great Grandfather or Grandmother may have written this hymn. :)
2. I come up with weird, unorthodox, crazy schemes. I always say something like this to Brent, "Why do we have to do things the way society says is acceptable?" When we were first married I suggested to Brent that we move out of our apartment and live in a campground for the summer to save money. I also once suggested when we sold our old townhouse that we get a van and live in it for a while to save money. I would never actually go through with crazy stunts like these but I definitely have this side that rebels from the status quo a bit.
3. I can't stand misspelled words or bad grammar from myself. I don't really have any way of telling if my grammar sucks but I have to immediately check on any misspelled word I type and have to edit any words I find misspelled later when I go back and read old blog posts. I know, this blog is probably full of misspelled words and grammatical errors that I'm not even aware of making me sound like a complete fool for even bringing this up.
4. I like crappy T.V. Who knows how many T.V. shows I've enjoyed watching that I wouldn't ever admit to. I will admit to one. I've probably seen every episode of Beverly Hills 90210 twice. I know, I'm embarrassed for me too! I will say that my love for the crappy T.V. seems to be diminishing as I get older, so there is still hope for me.
5. I have a hard time going out places at night without Brent and the kids. Maybe it's because I'm sort of a homebody. I do try to make my way out into the world to be social once in a while and get myself out of my comfort zone.
6. I'm a political junkie. Only for presidential elections though. I don't think I know anyone personally who enjoys it as much as I do. It isn't just with this years election either. In 2000 I stayed up 'til probably 2 a.m. watching to see who won before I finally gave up and went to bed. Four years ago I was very into it too. This year I think my obsession has peaked with watching too much CNN and reading too many blogs and talking to anyone who is interested. Annoying some, I'm sure. It's probably kind of like how some people are with televised sports. I feel like my interest will probably wane to more normal human levels in coming elections because I'm sure to suffer significant burn out after this year. Which is probably good.

Joys:
1~My family. I really got lucky with them.
2~Decorating my house. Or rather now that I'm basically done, coming up with things to repaint so I don't get bored with it.
3~A good non-fiction book.
Fears:
1~That I will fail as a mom and not be what my kids really need in a mom.
2~I'm kind of a hypochondriac so I'm frequently fearing I've contracted some deadly ailment.
3~That gas will go up to $10 a gallon.
Goals:
1~To go back to school when Noah starts first grade.
2~Run a couple 5k races and get in great shape this year.
3~Play the piano well someday.
Obsessions/Collections:
1~Let's see, I'm not much of a collector but I do have a lot of painted wood chachkies or knick-knacks or whatever in my house.
2~One obsession is the presidential election. It gets annoying sometimes but I really can't stop following it on a daily basis. Probably because it seems like the most important election I've seen in my lifetime.
3~Color. There are nine different colors of paint on the walls in my house.
Random or Surprising Facts:
1~When I was a Freshman in college I occasionally talked to this engaged guy at the LDS Institute (building for religion classes for Mormon students). He gave me a ride home one day and asked me if I'd kiss him so he could have one last fling before he got married. I laughed and told him I didn't think so. It probably would have been a waste of a kiss for him since I'd only kissed one guy up to that point in my life. I wonder if the marriage lasted with a start like that.
2~When I was at BYU, out of desperation I took a job as a model for the art classes. I chickened out and quit on my first day because I couldn't bare being seen in the flesh-colored bikini you had to wear (since of course BYU doesn't have nude models). I ended up instead as a janitor in the art building working at 3:30 am.
3~I love to read out loud to my kids good rhyming children's books.

Top Ten List
I got an email from my good friend Laila after I started my blog saying she'd read it. She said my "get to know you quiz" reminded her of the Top Ten Lists we used to make when we were roommates at BYU. So I thought it would be fun to make one. This one's dedicated to you Laila!
Top Ten List (in no particular order)
1. Running (okay jogging really) early in the morning in the Spring and Summer, just about the only good reason I can think of to get up before 7am.
2. Blond hair. I'm so glad my kids got the light blond hair I had as a kid!
3. Good Craftsman architecture and kitchens with creamy white cabinets and subway tiles. Some people enjoy paintings in art museums, for me great home design is a work of art.
4. Springtime in my town. It's really green and pretty for about three or four weeks.
5. Fresh cut tulips in a vase on my kitchen table. I know it only happens once a year but I enjoy it while it's there.
6. Going for walks with my family after dinner (the 10% of the time that no one cries or is too tired or has a tummyache....).
7. Chatting with Brent at the end of the day before we roll over and go to sleep.
8. Summer vacation. Outings with the kids, crickets on cool evenings, and no packing lunches before bedtime!
9. Grey's Anatomy. I can't help it, I'm a little addicted to that show!
10. Scooters. Best form of kid transportation ever! They're easy to toss in the back of the van, you don't have to feel guilty when you send your kids off to school without a helmet, and they're fun. That's why I have one too.
